Forensic pathologist Michael Baden has been involved in the investigation of some of the most high-profile deaths in America.
His recently-published book, American Autopsy, looks at medical examiners who see themselves, not as independent scientists, but part of the prosecution team. The renowned physician believes that this may lead to a medical examiner – especially in cases involving the actions of police officers – to rule a cause of death was one that satisfies a pro-prosecution or politically-driven narrative.
I had the privilege of interviewing Dr. Baden for the ABA Journal website. We discussed his long career and new book that looks at the politicization of death.
I hope you can check it out. |
